  • In recent years, whenever I've decided to press some CDs of new music for sale and promotional purposes, some joker has thought he was being really clever in saying, "Nice coasters!"

Well, because I'm perverse that way, I decided to just lean into the whole coaster thing. For just $7 (including shipping), you will get a wooden coaster featuring one of my varied, unique, and strange collage designs. These coasters not only look great, but they do the job for which they were designed! The artwork is sealed in acrylic so it won't be disturbed by condensation from you drink, and the coasters have nice little rubber feet to protect your furniture.

Plus, each coaster comes with a unique code (crossed out in sample picture) that will allow you to download my new EP, "Trying to Remember a Dream", in any format you choose and/or stream it for free on Bandcamp or using the Bandcamp app.

Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee you will get the design of your choice, and I am making new ones all the time. However, if there is a particular one you like, feel free to include a description in the notes of your order and if it's still available, I'll make sure you get it!

about

Before I took a break from teaching after more than a dozen years in the classroom, I was feeling pretty stuck and at times like I was barely hanging on, yet not at all sure of what my next move should be. It was a reminder that not making a decision is, itself, a decision. However, it is important to remember in these moments that, sometimes, hanging on is the best thing you can do, until you're ready to fully jump ship.

lyrics

You wake with the buzz of a still-dark morn
Trip through familiar paces
Ruminations retread, auto-pilot engaged
Barely discerning faces

Could this be a mistake? Amy I really awake?
Must I do all this again?
A half-hour later, fallen fully to earth
Paste on a half-hearted grin and just give in

Chunks of time sectioned off like us drones
Kept in boxes within a box
Itemized lists of tasks to be done
Enforced by the lash of the clock

Demands to be met, promotions to get
Futures to be secured
Futures we know are not promised to us
We pay for now by sitting here bored, and we

Drift in the wake of the choices we don't make
Somehow just staying afloat
And we're sure there must be a way out of the drink
But if you're not treading water, you might miss the boat

You thought you'd have it all figured out by now
Thought you'd have it all under control
Thought that everything somehow would
Work itself out while you
Spend your weekends with your friends playing
That rock and roll

Maybe, one day, you say to yourself,
'I'll get myself a little boat—
'I'll set sail, where a whale just might
'Swallow me up, and then that would be that—
'It'd be all she wrote'

But just as you let go, a shot 'cross the bow
Loose cannons make waves you can't ride
And the sirens, they sing to you such pretty lies
Leave you dashed on the rocks of your pride.

And we drift in the wake of the choices we don't make
Somehow just staying afloat
And we're sure there must be a way out of the drink
But if you're not treading water, you might miss the boat
