I wrote this song for a short-lived soul project I had with Lloyd Wright and Elizabeth Taliaferro. We played mostly covers, but we wrote a handful of originals for the group, and they always got the strongest reaction. Even though I liked the way ET sang it, I liked the song a whole lot and wanted to do a version of it myself, so I dropped the key and had at it.
